M¶emoire de DEA en Mod¶elisation et Informatique de Gestion Toward a Spatial Decision Support System: Multi-Criteria Evaluation Functions

The essence of this master thesis is to establish a 'marriage' between Geographical Infor-mation System (GIS) and Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA), a family of OR/MS tools thathave experienced very successful applications in di®erent domains since the 1960s. In fact,GIS has several limitations in the domain of decision-aid. The remedy to these limitationsis to integrate GIS technology with OR/MS tools and especially to MCA. The long-termaim of such an integration is to develop the so-called Spatial Decision Support System(SDSS) which is devoted to help deciders in spatially-related problems. A new strategyof GIS-MCA integration and a design for an open SDSS are developed throughout thismaster thesis. This new strategy of integration is implemented by the use of the VisualBasic programming language and MapObjects LT of ESRI.
